About Us

Teach Tearmainn is a non-profit organisation, with charitable status, serving women, with or without children who are in or have been in abusive relationships. We are an evidence based continuous improvement, quality and leadership performance organisation. We ensure we involve and seek the input from the women we serve, the community and our stakeholders at all times.

Teach Tearmainn is the only specialised dedicated service working to address the issue of domestic violence in County Kildare. Set up in 1999, our dedicated Helpline has been operational since 2000, while our Information & Support service commenced in 2002. Our purpose built state-of-the-art Women & Children’s Refuge was opened in 2014. Over this period, the organisation has built up a significant body of experience and expertise on the issue of violence against women.

We provide the following services:

• Women & Children’s Refuge
• Information & Support Service
• Outreach Service

Teach Tearmainn is funded partially through the Child and Family Agency, Kildare County Council, grants, events and private donations.
