What We Do
Teach Tearmainn provide free and confidential support services to women and children in Kildare and West Wicklow who are or have experienced Domestic Violence and Abuse.
Being in an abusive relationship can be extremely difficult and lonely. Many women blame themselves for causing their partners abusive behaviours. This can lead to many women hiding their experiences of abuse from their friends and loved ones
At Teach Tearmainn, we provide women with a safe and confidential space to share their experiences and explore their options. Our dedicated Support Team provide emotional and practical support to women using an empowerment approach so we will never ask a woman to do anything she does not want to do. You do not need to leave your relationship to use our services. To access our Services or for more information, please call our Helpline on 045-527584
Go Purple Day: A National Day of Fundraising and Awareness for Local Domestic Violence Services
Friday, April 23rd is designated as Go Purple Day, a national day of fundraising and awareness of local domestic violence services, including Teach Tearmainn in County Kildare. The dedicated day was initiated originally by members of An Garda Siochana in County Meath. It has now grown into a wider national day of awareness in partnership with Safe Ireland and Men’s Aid. Teach Tearmainn is one of the 39 frontline members of Safe Ireland. People, businesses and schools are being encouraged to wear purple, bake purple, grow purple, paint purple, whatever they like to show support and fundraise for their local domestic violence service. Given the times we are living through, it’s easy to Go Purple remotely with friends, family and colleagues. To make a donation to Teach Tearmainn click on the donate button.
